Western Expansion

by Lydia

Yesterday, in Day Class I learned about the western expansion. The kids had to walk, they did not get to go into the wagon because the wagons were too small.

The women made quilts out of scraps of cloth and feed sacks.

I'm glad I'm not a pioneer girl.

Also, yesterday I made a papier mache ball by putting the strips dipped in flour goop and putting them on a balloon. It was fun. Next week we get to decorate it. Yeah!

Today, a fun thing we did, was to look at the Illinois map and read and write down all the different towns/city names in Southern Illinois.
